Scratch coding in primary schools, explained
Why Scratch for primary school?
Scratch is a free, block-based language from MIT. Children snap blocks together instead of typing, so they focus on logic and creativity. It is used in schools worldwide to introduce coding and fits NEP 2020’s emphasis on coding and computational thinking from early years.
What the curriculum covers
Class 1–2 begin with ScratchJr and unplugged activities on sequences and directions. Class 3–5 move to Scratch, learning motion, events, loops, variables, conditions and simple game physics. Each term ends with a project that children present to classmates.
Coding programme for schools
The Scratch curriculum is the foundation of our coding programme for schools, which continues with Python, web development and AI in higher classes. Schools can adopt only the primary curriculum or the complete Class 1–12 pathway.
Delivery options
Your teachers can deliver it after our training, or Kod2Kids instructors can teach on campus. Both options include lesson plans, activity books, assessments and certificates.
How it works
