A smart traffic light that turns red when it sees someone waiting to cross.

🎯 What are we building?
We add an IR sensor to our traffic light. When it notices a person near the crossing, the light changes to red for cars so the person can cross safely.

🎮 Play with this experiment⚙️ How does it work?
The IR sensor sends invisible light and watches if it bounces back from something in front. If something is there, the Nano reads a signal and runs the red-light steps. This is called “if this happens, then do that”.
🌍 Where is this used in real life?
- Smart crossings in many cities change signals when people are waiting.
- Automatic doors open when they sense someone approaching.
- Hand-dryers and tap sensors turn on when they notice your hands.
💡 What could YOU invent with it?
Design a “school-zone helper”: a signal that stops traffic when little children, elders or people with disabilities wait to cross. It could make crossings safer for those who walk slowly.

आईआर सेंसर अदृश्य रोशनी भेजता है और देखता है कि सामने किसी चीज़ से टकराकर लौटती है या नहीं। कुछ हो तो नैनो को संकेत मिलता है और वो लाल बत्ती वाले कदम चलाता है। इसे कहते हैं “अगर ये हुआ, तो वो करो”।

- कई शहरों के स्मार्ट क्रॉसिंग लोगों के इंतज़ार में होने पर सिग्नल बदलते हैं।
- ऑटोमैटिक दरवाज़े किसी के पास आने पर ख़ुद खुल जाते हैं।
- हैंड-ड्रायर और सेंसर वाले नल हाथ पहचानकर चालू होते हैं।
